At FabCon and SQLCon Europe 2026 Microsoft took the biggest step yet, putting Fabric IQ into Microsoft 365 Copilot, extending the ontology, bringing app building to Power BI Pro and adding policy, audit and observability for agents, alongside OneLake, Real-Time Intelligence and SQL updates. Here is everything announced, with release stages, and where the rest of the industry stands.
At Build 2026, Microsoft made Fabric IQ, Graph in Fabric and operations agents generally available. The ontology item stays in preview, with general availability expected in the coming months.
At FabCon and SQLCon 2026, Microsoft made Fabric data agents generally available, released the local Fabric MCP server as GA, put a remote MCP server into preview and made Fabric IQ ontologies reachable over MCP in preview.
