Snowflake Summit 2026: Snowflake Intelligence becomes CoWork
At Summit 2026, Snowflake renamed Snowflake Intelligence to CoWork, made MCP connectors generally available, opened Semantic Studio in private preview and exposed semantic views over MCP.
Snowflake renamed its agent product, and the new name says who it is for. Snowflake Intelligence is now CoWork, built for business users. Snowflake announced it at Summit 2026, which opened on June 2.
What was announced
- Snowflake Intelligence is now CoWork, Snowflake's agent experience for business users.
- MCP connectors, generally available, so CoWork can reach tools and systems outside Snowflake.
- Semantic Studio, private preview, a workspace for building and managing semantic views.
- Semantic views over MCP, so outside agents can use Snowflake's semantic definitions directly.
Why it matters
Semantic views over MCP mean the definitions themselves are now a service. An agent in another platform can use Snowflake's metric definitions when it asks for numbers, instead of guessing at joins and filters.
A dedicated studio says semantic work is becoming a job of its own. The people who know what the numbers should mean usually sit in finance, operations and sales, not on the data team. The studio earns its place if they can review and approve a definition without writing SQL.
