Fabric data agents are generally available in Copilot Studio
Microsoft made Fabric data agents generally available in Copilot Studio. A Copilot Studio agent can now add a Fabric data agent as a tool.
Microsoft announced general availability of Fabric data agents in Microsoft Copilot Studio. Microsoft first said this was coming at Build 2025.
What shipped
- A Copilot Studio agent can add a Fabric data agent as a tool, listed in Copilot Studio as a Fabric IQ Data MCP tool.
- General availability, so the integration is supported for production use.
Why it matters
Copilot Studio is where many business teams build their own agents without writing code. With this release, those agents can answer from governed Fabric data instead of from spreadsheets someone uploaded.
That also means more agents, built by more people, asking the same data the same kinds of questions. A central data team cannot review every one of them. What it can do is make sure the definitions those agents draw on are written down once, reviewed by the people who own them, and served to every agent the same way.
