FabCon Vienna: Graph in Fabric enters public preview
At FabCon Vienna, Microsoft put a native graph store with GQL queries into public preview, released a developer Fabric MCP and extended data agents to all mirrored databases.
The European Fabric Community Conference opened in Vienna on September 16, 2025.
What was announced
- Graph in Fabric, in public preview. A native graph store that runs GQL queries over data in OneLake. Regional rollout starts October 1.
- Fabric MCP, in preview, aimed at developers, for generating code and authoring Fabric items.
- Data agents on all mirrored databases, so a data agent can answer from data mirrored into Fabric from other systems.
- CI/CD for data agents, so they can move through development, test and production like other Fabric items.
- OneLake security reaches full preview.
Why it matters
A graph store is a big step for questions that are really about relationships: which suppliers feed which plants, which customers share an account manager, how a delay at one site spreads. Tables can answer those, but the queries get long and fragile.
A graph is a way to store connections. It does not decide what the connections mean. Someone still has to say that a "supplies" link between a vendor and a plant is the contract relationship and not a one-time purchase. CI/CD for data agents points the same way: the instructions and definitions behind an agent are now treated as something to version and review, which is where they belong.
