The Genie One MCP server is generally available
Databricks made the Genie One MCP server generally available, enforcing Unity Catalog permissions on every call. The beta endpoint shuts down on October 31, 2026.
Databricks just gave teams on the Genie beta about five weeks to move. The Genie One MCP server became generally available on September 25, 2026, and the beta endpoint shuts down on October 31.
What shipped
- A generally available MCP server for Genie One, so any MCP client can ask Genie questions.
- Unity Catalog permissions on every call.
- A migration date. The beta endpoint shuts down on October 31, 2026, so teams using it need to move to the GA endpoint before then.
Why it matters
General availability for an MCP endpoint is a support promise. Teams can wire it into production agents and expect it to stay put. Anyone with agents on the beta endpoint should check them now.
Microsoft, Snowflake, Google and Databricks all serve governed data over MCP, so the protocol is no longer where the platforms differ. What differs is what each server knows about the business. Two agents can call two platforms over the same protocol and still report different churn, because each platform holds its own definition of a lost customer.
