Snowflake Summit 2025 opened on June 2.

## What was announced

1. **Defining semantic views, generally available.** Semantic views store business metrics, dimensions and relationships as objects in the database, instead of in separate files. They first appeared in preview in April.
2. **Snowflake Intelligence, announced.** A place for business users to ask questions in plain language and get answers from agents that use Snowflake data.

## Why it matters

Moving semantic definitions into the database turns them into governed objects. They get the same access controls, the same ownership and the same change history as tables. That is a real step up from a YAML file in someone's folder.

The release order says something too. Defining semantic views reached GA first; querying them directly came later. Platforms are building the place to record meaning before they build every way to use it, which is the right order.
