# Data + AI Summit 2025: AI/BI Genie is generally available

Databricks used its Data + AI Summit in June 2025 to move Genie to general availability and add pieces around it.

## What was announced

1. **AI/BI Genie, generally available** (June 12). Genie spaces gained a knowledge store for synonyms, sampled values and primary and foreign key joins, and can draw on lineage and query history. Benchmarks let authors test a space against known questions. Genie comes with Databricks SQL at no extra license.
2. **Unity Catalog metric views, public preview** (May 29). Metrics are defined once in the catalog and reused across tools.
3. **Agent Bricks, beta** (June 11), for building task-specific agents that are evaluated and tuned on a company's own data.
4. **Lakebase** entered preview, and **Databricks One** was announced as a simpler entry point for business users.

## Why it matters

Benchmarks are the quiet headline. A Genie space with a set of known questions and expected answers can be tested before a change ships and after. That turns the space from something an author believes is right into something the team can show is right.

The knowledge store and metric views point the same way. Synonyms, joins and metric definitions are decisions about the business, written down where tools can read them. The open question for any team is who owns those decisions once they are written down, and how a change gets reviewed.
