Microsoft Build opened on June 2, 2026, and Fabric IQ moved out of preview.

## What was announced

1. **Fabric IQ is generally available.** The ontology item inside it is still in preview; Microsoft expects its general availability in the coming months.
2. **Graph in Fabric and operations agents** are generally available.
3. **Ontologies in Microsoft Foundry, in preview.** Foundry agents can use Fabric IQ ontologies as knowledge sources.
4. **Fabric IQ in Agent 365**, in preview, as a first-party MCP tool.
5. **Fabric IQ in Microsoft 365 Copilot** is open to the Frontier program, and Fabric IQ tools reach GitHub Copilot CLI through open-source Agent Skills for Fabric.

## Why it matters

Read the stages closely. The workload is generally available; the ontology item is not yet. Microsoft is telling customers the platform is ready while the modeling surface keeps maturing. That is a sensible order.

For companies, the practical point is that the places an ontology can be used keep growing: Fabric, Foundry, Agent 365, Microsoft 365 Copilot. Each new surface is another agent that will read the same definitions. Teams that treat the ontology as a shared, reviewed business asset, not a side file one analyst maintains, will get the most from that reach.
